Padang, West Sumatera

http://www.map-generator.net/

Padang is the capital city of West Sumatera province, lies on the western coast of Sumatera island in Indonesia. West Sumatera is the home for the Minangkabau people, well known as great treaders all around Indonesia, and Mentawai people. Total area of West Sumatera is 42,297.30 km² and Padang itself is 694.96 km². Nasi Padang and Rendang are the most famous cuisine from this area, and currently already wide spreadth all over the world.

Padang and West Sumatera offer many tourist attractions as the geographic conditions are located between highlands and the ocean. Therefore, there are tropical forests, mountains, volcanos, lakes, valleys, rivers & waterfalls in the highlands, the fauna and flora, and the beaches.

As they have a lot of great natural attractions, geographical condition that lies on a belt of volcanic and seismic activity known as the "Pacific Ring of Fire," gives consequence of potentials of natural disasters. Earthquakes, landslides, volcano eruption, and tsunami should be aware of. Most recent evidence was the 7.9 in Richter scale earthquakes on 30th September 2009. Not to be feared of, but as a lesson learnt for all of us to be wiser and give more awareness to our environment.

SAVE THE EARTH, OUR ONE ONLY EARTH.

  1. Great post, love it! haha Anyway, today I had a big luck and want to share it with everyone - I finally found a way to make cheap calls to Australia, where my cousin Becky lives! There's this very neat site, briing.com, that offers a fast and easy way to reach your friends and relatives all around the world! You simply dial 084 3278 7878 for Australia landlines, and if you're in the UK, you can call Australia and talk for as long as you like! :)
